Dear Cashflow Warriors,
Today seems a very good day to read newspaper as theere is another article that is to remind us of what’s needed to be a Good Investor… Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) on Profitable Plots (See Article below).
The stunning thing is that CAD reported that Profitable Plots’ liabilities exceed their assets. Looking at those investors who pumped in at least 6 figures into deals that they don’t even understand how it works due to the complexities due to land investing and Britain’s land laws. This is just one of the many so call “good deals” in Singapore. The companies seems to prey on the ignorance of people who didn’t understand how the deals work.
The “good deals” which are freely available but yet to be investigated works similarly to Profitable Plots where they generally give a “guaranteed” cashflow of a X% of the deal until maturity. The question they seem forget to ask in the face of excessive greed is “How could a commodity or land deals generate cashflow without much activity?” I got a few investors to explain to me how it work and it seems to me that it is like I (as in the investment company) take your money first and I will give your money back X% upon maturity. A lot of them logically said that if anything were to happen to the company, they still have the commodity or the land titles. But look at what happen to Profitable Plots… are the investors saying that now or they prefer to get back their full amount of money?

ST 101111 – CAD_ Profitable Plots’ liabilities exceed assets
Dear Cashflow Players,
Still remember in the game there is a small deal card call “2 Big Power” or “DIV2U”? Yesterday I got $23,500 passive income per month in my Cashflow Game because of those deals as I have about $1.1 million in cash. The question now is that is there such deals in real life?
Today’s Straits Times Page B32, DBS is issuing out $500m preference shares for retail investors that will pay 4.7% a year for 10 years (see the Article below). This definitely beats fixed deposits rates but it is not risk-free and comes with potential pitfalls. The major pitfall is that the price is never fixed and will fluctuate according to prevalent interest rates and market conditions. Baring any financial disasters, they are general quite safe.
Hence, if one person have about $1.1 million in cash to buy the preference shares, he or she will get roughly about $51K per year which works to about $4,300 per month of passive income. The question now is do you have any other streams of passive income to protect this paper asset (Remember Power Investing)?
